Says Andy as he puts his knife and fork down this evening. Now don’t get me wrong, he is really rather adept at the old bbq. But such modesty?! I’d have been a bit gutted if the rib of beef we’d just eaten wasn’t any good. It was a solid purchase from the butchers counter at the Inter-Marche!
It’s made me reflect though at how easy it is to eat well with a gas burner and bbq. OK, we’ll but not necessarily super healthy when you have a croissant 🥐 for breakfast pretty much every day…oops! Oh and a meal isn’t real without some meat for some chaps!!
You’ll have to take my word for it as we’ve only got pictures from today but some of our gastronomic highlights have been….
Tonight’s beef rib with rocket and potatoes. Nom, nom 😋.
Duck avec cassis & vin rouge jus
Chorizo and asparagus risotto
Salt and pepper chicken drumsticks 🍗
Roast veal with fennel and potatoes
Homemade burgers with homemade coleslaw – thanks for the recipe Robin 🙂
Roast lamb leg with asparagus and potatoes
Posh French hot dogs 🌭
But of course we have some staples in our camping crate to make this work:
Olive oil, vegetable oil, salt and pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper, chipotle chilli flakes, 5 spice, mixed herbs, plain flour, stock pots/cubes, garlic, chilli sauce (s), long grain rice, arborio rice, pasta, cous cous.
Everything else we’ve bought fresh based on our fancy. Easy!
Oh and we may have eaten out once or twice ….but we’ve already ‘fessed up to those!
